What is an EdTech Leader?
What is an Ed Tech Leader?
Throughout my time in the CEL program, I have come to form my own definition of an EdTech Leader: a teacher who models efficient, effective, and engaging ways to implement technology in education. An Edtech leader does this by encouraging and inspiring other teachers to use technology, continuing to learn different ways to implement technology in the classroom and involve the entire school's community.
What makes a good EdTech Leader?
Encourages and inspires other teachers to use technology.
It is crucial that EdTech leaders help other teachers see the importance of technology in the classroom. It is especially important that teachers are using technology in their lesson plans because so much of our student's futures revolve around technology and their ability to use it. In order to inspire other educators, an Edtech leader must show their passion and excitement about technology through workshops and assistance. This means that an Edtech leader can work one on one with other teachers or through group meetings. In these meetings the Edtech leader can share their most effective technology tools and help teach how to implement them into individual classrooms. Through their interactions with other teachers, it is crucial that leaders express their passion for technology in the classroom.
Never stops learning.
As technology is constantly evolving, it is crucial that an Edtech leader's repertoire and tools are evolving as well. An Edtech leader is someone who is constantly looking for different types of technology tools to help enhance the classroom and make it a more efficient, effective and engaging environment. Edtech leaders are present in discussions revolving around technology in twitter chats, seminars and the community to help their school be exposed to the best methods of teaching and involving technology in the classroom.
Involves the entire community.
Not only is it important to have students and teachers exposed to technology, but it is essential that parents are also aware of what is going on in the classroom. By involving parents in the talk about technology, Edtech leaders can help their students both inside and outside the classroom. When the community is working together and encouraging one another to try new tools, there can be a lot more discussion about what is successful, what parents are liking, what students are liking and what areas are lacking in the department of technology. If an Edtech leader has the ability to engage with the community and expose them to the resources that technology provides education, they will have a lot more support and success in their efforts.
What aspects of EdTech leadership to I plan on using in my classroom?
In my future school/classroom, I hope I can help parents, students and teachers develop the same passion for technology that I have. I plan to do this through teaching technology in engaging, effective and efficient ways that will improve the traditional classroom. My goal is to create a that community utilizes all the technology that it has access to. I hope to find ways in which to collaborate with teachers around the community and the country to share our successes and failures in our technology pursuit. I look forward to gaining experiences in the Edtech community and pursuing my goal of becoming a classroom teacher/Edtech leader.

I really like how you said you want to collaborate with not only teachers in your area but teacher on a national level! I've mainly thought about Edtech Leaders being people that want to help people in their direct community. I also enjoyed how you linked including parents in the conversation when it comes to technology. How do you think you'll plan on really involving the parents?
